Our New Studio/Demonstration Room
AIX Records, a subsidiary of AIX Media Group, moved into a new building on the west side of Los Angeles in the fall of 2005. The new facility houses a newly constructed state-of-the-art high-resolution, audio/video production studio and demonstration room. The rooms were designed by Studio Bau:ton's Peter Gruneisen in conjunction with Mark Waldrep and wired by AIX's own team. Bob Hodas tuned the room. The main room is a hybrid room that serves as a demonstration room and mixing environment. Endorsements Our company was founded in 1989 with the purchase of a compact disc pre-mastering system [number 20] from Sonic Solutions. We moved in 1992 to the former New England "Synclavier" studio in West Hollywood, a location that has seen the installation of succeeding generations of digital equipment. Operated primarily as a mastering studio for the first 8 years, AIX Studios underwent a complete renovation with the acquisition of a System 5 console and R-1 Digital Multi Track from Euphonix in the summer of 2000. The new equipment made AIX Records one of the only record companies completely equipped to handle high-resolution audio recording, mixing and mastering. The success of our record label in garnering awards and enthusiastic reviews from journalists and customers, has resulted in relationships with a number of high-end equipment manufacturers. AIX studios boasts some very high-end audiophile equipment provided by our manufacturer partners. We have shared our incredible recordings with them and utilize the equipment that has been made available to AIX. Our new facility has DVD playback equipment from Meridian [800/8610], preamplifiers and DACs from Benchmark Media Systems, cables and interconnects from Audience and Cardas, amplification from Butler and a Viiv-enabled Media Center Center PC from Niveus [K2]. These are products that are consistent with the no-compromise nature of our recordings and are part of our production chain. Recording Philosophy We approach each project with one goal...to maximize the quality of the recorded sound. Rather than try to recreate a concert hall or club in your living room, AIX Records believes that high-resolution recording and 5.1 channel surround mixing can be used creatively to enhance any musical experience. We use multiple stereo pairs of large diaphragm microphones, state-of-the-art preamplifiers connected directly to the recording deck and an all digital signal path. Our releases are some of the only DVD-Audio titles that make full use of the 24 bit dynamic floor offered by the specification. In addition, we include several different mixes in a variety of encoding formats. In addition to the simply unsurpassed audio quality, we include full session videos, multiple camera angles, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, discographies and lots of other interesting materials. We try to produce products that we ourselves would want to purchase and appreciate for many years. |
